Whale Season

Whale Season usually begins the middle of January with most of the whales located on the Pacific coast. There are tour agencies in town that transport people over to the Pacific coast to whale watch. A little later in February the Sea of Cortez hosts other whales including the Blue Whale which is the largest whale.

Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday)

Scheduled to be February 21st, Loreto participated in a Mardi Gras in 2011. The event planners promised to bring the same level of excitement and enthusiasm into 2012. This event is scheduled to take place at the Inn at Loreto Bay.

Annual Pig Roast

The "Pig Roast" for 2012 will be held at Rancho Notri on February 26. This event was hosted by Fred and Joanne Schiel for over 20 years. Now the event is sponsored by the Optimist Club of Loreto. Fred and Joanne continue to supply the meat and the attendees bring a side dish to share. A full-filled activity with food, music and dancing that brings the town together.

Wine and Food Festival

The next Wine and Food Festival for Loreto will be held March 9-11 at Loreto Bay. Many local restaurants, bars and tour agencies will be participating. Since it is whale season for the Baja Peninsula, tours will be available for a glimpse of these magnificent creatures. Entertainment, music, craft shows, dancing, etc., will be part of the agenda.
